Hey Reader, Last week a spotted eagle owl came to our door. It was beautiful — wild and silent — but clearly unwell. We tried to help, but it was too late. The owl had been poisoned, likely from agricultural chemicals nearby. Even though it didn’t survive, it left an imprint. A few days later, I hosted a mini retreat for mothers and daughters — a gentle afternoon with the horses. There was laughter, quiet, and that lovely rhythm of being together without having to do anything. Afterwards one of the mothers said, “This was wonderful — exactly the right balance between connection and space.” That line has stayed with me. Because connection and space — that balance — is what most of us are craving. Not only with each other, but with the world that holds us. These two moments — the owl and the retreat — have been sitting side by side in my mind all week. The owl reminded me how easily we poison the very systems that sustain life: through the food we eat, the stress we normalize, the ways we disconnect from what’s real and alive. The mothers and daughters reminded me what happens when we slow down enough to listen again. Healing begins to ripple outward — through us, our families, and the land itself. Maybe nourishment simply means choosing what feeds life, not just what fills us up. Hey Reader, As the full moon approaches this week, I’ve been reflecting on the last ten years of my life. Quietly. Honestly. With more tenderness than I expected. Ten years ago, everything changed. I left my marriage.I left the retreat farm I had poured my heart into.I left the practice I had built over nearly two decades.I followed a pull toward a truer way of living, even though it meant stepping into the unknown. I moved provinces.I rebuilt my life. And in my forties, I became a mother for...
Hey Reader, My mare, Misty, has been reminding me lately how powerful it is to meet someone exactly where they are. When she first came to me, she was inverted — her back hollow, head high, eyes wary. She carried tension in every line of her body. Distrusting. Anxious. Distant. She didn’t want to be touched, and honestly, I didn’t blame her. She’d learned that closeness came with pressure, that being handled meant being controlled. But over time, with choice and freedom and gentleness,...
Hey Reader, This week I’ve been thinking about one of my clients I’ve been supporting for the past year. When we started, she was struggling with weight, low energy, and that heavy fog that makes everything feel harder than it should. With some lifestyle shifts and gentle coaching, she began to sleep better, her mood lifted, and she lost a few kilos. Then… she got stuck. It was frustrating for her — and honestly, for me too. I could feel how much she wanted change, but something deeper was...
